CHRYSALIS PROGRAM

The Chrysalis Program was created for young women of color in Stockton to expand opportunity, build sisterhood, and support young women through their higher education journey. Through this program young women will participate in a variety of experiences to enhance leadership skills and access to resources. We know that women who identify as Black, indigenous, and/or People of Color are folks who often do not have responsive support to ensure they can access and persist through higher education. The Chrysalis Program will be a pillar that they can lean on.

We are creating a Sisterhood of young women from Stockton who will lead the next generation into the future.

How will we do it?

Chrysalis Program Conference

This yearly conference, held in the Summer, will convene and empower participants as we move forward in life and prepare for the year ahead. We will establish cohorts of young women that will support each other and help those coming up behind us to succeed. This experience will be rooted in culturally responsive and identity based practices that will support a more inclusive higher education environment for young BIPOC women coming from Stockton.

Monthly Think Tank Meetings

These will be spaces where we will learn together, develop leadership skills, create solutions to overcome obstacles, and embrace each other in sisterhood as we face the challenges of our community and world.
