  • Graduation from any public high school in Stockton

  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative HS GPA

  • Full-time enrollment at a not-for-profit college, university or trade school in the state of CA or attend an HBCU or MSI anywhere in the US

Frequently Asked Questions

Program Members attending a 4-year college/university will be awarded $1,000 a year, for up to four years. Program Members attending a 2-year college or regionally accredited trade school will be awarded $500 a year, for up to two years. Transfer pathways are highly encouraged. Program Members who transfer from a community college in two years to a 4 year institution would qualify to receive $1,000 for an additional 2 years.

To be eligible for the Stockton Scholars Program, applicants must:

  • Attend an eligible public high school within the city of Stockton
  • Have a 2.0 unweighted overall high school GPA
  • Complete the FAFSA or DREAM ACT financial aid application by the March 2nd deadline
  • Plan to pursue a degree and enroll full-time at an accredited, not-for-profit college, university, or trade school in CA
    • OR Plan to attend a HBCU, HSI, or MSI anywhere in the US

The following is a list of eligible high schools: Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, Cesar Chavez High School, Edison High School, Franklin High School Health Careers Academy, Jane Frederick High School, Merlo Institute of Environmental Studies, Pacific Law Academy, Stagg High School, Stockton Collegiate International Secondary School, Stockton Early College Academy, Stockton High School, Walton Special Center, Weber Institute, ABLE Charter School, Aspire Benjamin Holt Academy, Bear Creek High School, Lincoln High School, McNair High School, Middle College High School, New Vision High School, Plaza Robles High School, Sture Larsson High School, Venture Academy, or Weston Ranch High School.

Physical residency within the City of Stockton is not a requirement. As long as you are currently enrolled and graduate from an eligible high school, satisfy the other eligibility requirements, you will become a member of the Stockton Scholars Program.

Yes, being an American citizen or permanent resident is not a requirement for the Stockton Scholars Program. Undocumented applicants must submit the California Dream Act financial aid application by the March 2nd deadline prior to submitting the Stockton Scholars Program application to qualify. Please note that Stockton Scholars does not request or retail any immigration status information.

You must still submit your program application during your senior year by the March 2nd deadline. Once you receive acceptance into the program you will be able to request up to one academic year off before starting college/trade school and still receive the scholarship portion of the program if eligible.

Students who are joining the military are still required to submit the application during their senior year by the March 2nd deadline and should contact the help@stocktonscholars.org team as soon as possible. Students joining the military will be able to request a waiver and will be eligible to receive the scholarship once they enroll in college.

You can use the Stockton Scholars scholarship to cover tuition or higher education fees at any accredited, not for profit 2-year or 4-year college/university or trade school in the state of CA. Additionally, scholarship funds may be used to cover the same expenses at a not-for-profit, accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) anywhere in the US. **Please note, all San Joaquin Delta College and University of the Pacific school students will have scholarship funds sent directly to the school and funds will be disbursed or applied to your account through your financial aid department.

You should apply for the Stockton Scholars program your senior year of high school. Our application opens in the Fall each year but you are only required to apply to the program one time.

Not-for-profit CTE, Community College CTE programs, and Trade School and apprentice programs are eligible for the Stockton Scholars scholarship.

You can fill out the Scholarship Activation/Renewal Form through the Stockton Scholars website, however we highly encourage downloading the app for a more streamlined application process.

Under the “Status” section of your Program Dashboard, you will be able to view the status of your application.

Go to your Program Dashboard and view the instructions under “Next Steps.” When the Activation/Renewal window is open, click the red button “Claim the Scholarship Now!”.
